    where to begin

I just acquired a '61 MGA 1600.  The drivers door will unlatch but not open, the passenger door won't open and I believe the door post is shot.  Don't know where the latch is located for the hood.  The left rear wheel is locked up.  The steering box is locked up.  Good news, the trunk is open.  I know absolutely nothing about these vehicles. The car will need a complete ground up restoration.  Any advice, or reputable British resto shops in the Cleveland/Akron, Ohio area.

    Re: where to begin

    gr8ful,

Well, it certainly sounds at first blush like the car needs a total restoration. Do you know what is entailed from the standpoints of complexity and cost? I would shop for a restorer not based on location, but rather on reputation. Saving a few miles is nothing compared to living with a poor job.

If you would like to contact me off forum, through the email or private message functions, or through my website, I would be happy to fill you in. I've done a lot with these cars over the years, and the MGA in particular is my favorite. I would like to see you get off on the right foot.
