    Need HELP....

    Hi i am new to all this so please go easy on me lol.i am in the middle of sorting up a mini 1000 city E (1986)

    and have benn told that its still leaded so need to know how i can change it to unleaded is it just a case of changing

    the valves or is there more to it if so can anyone tell me what and where i can get the parts thanx Mike......

    Oh and i almost forgot the engine number is 99HB81PO112799 if thats any use thanx ...

    Hi Mike,

    It is indeed leaded going from the engine no!! What I will say is please don't covert to unleaded!! you will be far better of running unleaded with an additive than converting...trust me. We get lots of folks through the door here that have major issues after converting to run unleaded...pinking...running on and timing! I run all my older cars with unleaded fuel and an additive and no problems here! To change over to unleaded fuel only the head has to come off and have new exhaust seats fitted which will cost about £100 to £150 depending on who does the work.

    Thanx oz al just clean up what we got then rather than replace what kind of paste is best for reseatin valves as i have took them out to clean them up

    You will need some lapping paste, usually supplied in a small tube with course at one end and fine at the other. Start with the course then finish with the fine...don't forget to give the head a good clean once you have lapped the valves in and before the final fit.
