    Which bits to buy

    Hi,

I have just bought a Mini 35 and would like to do a "routine service"

However, I am very confused by the variety of bits available. How do I know which to get.

The car is a 1275 and has an SU HIF38 carburettor. Parts for this  seem a bit scarce. Should I buy a repair kit or service kit.

There are no points in the distributor so I presume it has electronic ignition. Would this be standard adn what type of dissy is this? I need to buy a new cap and HT leads.

Is there a book/manual that will give me all these details ?

    Thanks for your help

    Re: Which bits to buy

Hi there and welcome to the forum,

1st were abouts in the world are you?

    GAC8100 is the servive kit for a HIF38 (same as a HIF44)

The dizzy is a 64D and as you spotted has no points it's electronic so only the cap and rotor need to be serviced

GDC156 for the cap and GRA2143 for the rotor arm Wink

    Re: Which bits to buy

    Hi Oz,

Thanks for your very helpful, and prompt, reply.

I will also need spark plugs, HT leads and an ignition coil. Is it worth spending a lot or are generic parts just as good.??

I will also buy an oil filter and then lots of shiny bits for the engine bay, once I have cleaned it !!

    I am in Wirral (UK)

I alway tell people to go for the best they can afford! silicone lead are always going to be a good replacement and I like NGK plugs and I always fit Lucas sports coils...but that's just my preference mate.
