A PO put Goodyear Eagle GT P205/55R15 tires on the 8 Spoke Alloy Wheels made in the UK & sold by Moss, that are mounted on my 64 TR4. The problem is they are too low a profile and only about 23" in dia., compared to the original size tires that were about 25 1/2" (I think) in dia. The car doesn't have OD and when I'm cruising along at max speed the engine revs are too high. (Exact rpm count I'm not sure of.).
Due to the wide tires, it also drives like a truck at slow speeds, etc. The PO had widened the front fenders approx. an inch, so the tires don't rub, etc., but I could use the extra ground clearance, etc. Those speed bumps are killing me, and all driveways must be taken at an angle, etc.
Does anyone know a good radial street tire, with a size that's up around 25-26" in dia. and not too wide for the 5.5" wide rims? I've been told that the P205/55R was/is really too wide for the 5.5 rim' s.
Thanks in advance ... Chris
