    Timing cover gasket and seal

    Hi all,

I’m getting ready to put a new timing cover gasket and oil seal and a new oil pan gasket on my 79 1500 Midget.  I have the manual that outlines the repair but was wondering if anyone has done this repair and may have some words of wisdom to pass on, or maybe can tell me if I need to watch out for or anything that I’ll run into.  I’ve been soaking the crank pulley nut with P.B. blaster for a few days just in case it wanted to be stubborn coming off.

    Thanks in advance

Yes, check the end float of the crank. If it's close to the max look at changing out the thrust washers. Very good time to do this.

thanks, I will check that. I've heard the thrust bearings wear in these engines.
