Hi all,

 Just recently purchased a 1962 TR3A and am in the process of fixing it up.  Recently I purchased the alloy valve cover for it (Moss 852-115) to replace my original valve cover.  The new valve cover comes with a small breather tube that normally I believe would be routed back to the air filters.  However the TR3A engine has no facility for this (the original valve cover had a "breathing" filler cap...not a screw on one like the new alloy cover). So the question is what to do with the breather tube on the new cover?  Do I just vent it down and out to the bottom of the engine bay...rubber tubing...kinda ugly.  Is there a breather cap that I can attach to this small tube?

 Any insight much appreciated.

If you have the engine with the big road draft tube on it's right side down low on the block, you could just plug this tube. However, I prefer running a hose (should be fuel safe to resist oil as heater hose turns to mush) to a "Y" adaptor, and tnence to each of the air cleaners through some sort of sealed port. Does this seem practical and/or desirable to you?

First of all thanks for the VERY quick response!  Only wish my car was that fast :-)

 Yes I do have the big road draft tube (exits down below the fuel pump) so I will probably just block it off.  I would actually rather run it back to the air cleaners, however I've upgraded to the K&N air filters and have added a heat shield between the manifolds and carbs.  Basically this has left me with the front air cleaner less than 1/8" from the inner fender so I don't really have any room to add another adaptor to feed this tube back to the air filters.  I'm planning on just tapping the inside of the tube and installing a bolt with gasket seal to make it look as nice as possible...of course I'll tap it before I put it on the engine...don't think the top end would like all those little metal shavings!

Just as a further reply to this, noticed in the Service Instruction Manual that they declare that this airway (in from the rocker cover...out via the draft tube) is very important.  So have decided to modify an after market breather to fit the small breather tube that exits the new valve cover.  I am surprised that Moss doesn't mention this as they don't have a standard valve cover replacement that has a breather filter option.
