Recently a group of members of The Chicagoland MG Club got together to thank fellow member Barney Gaylord for his hands on help and instructions in keeping our MGs on the road. Barney is one those unique people in the MG world that donates his time and effort to the MG marque and refuses to make a dime from it. His website has a wealth of technical information particularly for the MGA but applies to all others. He was honored last year with The Cecil Kimber Enthusiasts Award from the MG Drivers Club of North America for his work and efforts.
Starting on Thanksgiving Day last fall he embarked on rebuilding his rusty sills and restoring the body, fenders and wings. This now 7 month project is well documented on his website and he is buffing out the paint this week. We knew he'd put his old dinged up grill on the MGA with an Attitude' so we got the idea to pool some funds and buy him a new one.
When I contacted Mike Chuput to see if it might be possible to provide us a larger discount to us than my Loyal Customer Program discount, he offered up a free one for Barney. This allowed us poor MG guys the ability to buy him up a lot of other shiny parts to go with the grill. He received the stuff last night at a club get together and they will all be catching some sunlight in what he says is 2 weeks work. Yea, for him 2 weeks.
Thanks again Mike, Moss Motors Rocks!
