What year is my car ?

    What year is my car ?

    I hope everyone is having a good day! Question for you. I am under the belief that the last year of production for the MGB was 1980,  and yet, the serial number on my car, identifies it as a 1981 with a B in the seventh diget???? Can someone please staighten me out?

    Your car was built between 1st September 1980 and 31st August 1981.  The `model year' changeover is not January 1st.  Typical letters are GVADJ1BG (MGB) or GVGEJ1BG5nnnnn (MGBGT).
