    loss of power

I just got my first 1977 MGB and I had the water pump go out on me so when I replaced it, the bracket for the smog pump would not fit with the new water pump, so i just left the belt off for the smog pump and there it sits. After that everything was ok the car ran great, then after a few weeks sometimes the car would just have no power and when i pushed in the cluch it died but would always start right back up, now when i am getting up to speed it seems like the car is cutting in and out like it wants to die but never does, could this have something to do with the smog pump, or could it be something else like the fuel pump?

I really like all the 77s that seam to be coming to life! I need to ask where is your filter for fuel? What state are you in. West coast us no fun. Stay with me I love 77s. The smog pump is a air pump to the exsost not the motor.
