    1600 Lens Removal

MGA 1600 style front turn signal lenses can often be a struggle to remove if the sponge rubber type seal has hardened, been replaced with the wrong material, or dirt and debris have built up in the recess. This prevents you from pushing in the lens for enough to unlock the tabs and remove the lens. Large pliers used on the lens to remove it almost always break the lens. A short piece of 2' x 4' lumber with two saw grooves cut at 90º will aid in removing the lens without fracture and frustration. Fit the grooves over the four protruding tabs of the lens. The pushing force is now spread evenly over the lens surface and you may work the lens gently back and forth to help loosen it, then push against the wood and use it as a handle to help unscrew the lens.
