    Anyone know why fuel is running out of the air breather from the running on control valve my  77 mgb?

    alan, if you cut the blake line then yes you will have to replace it.  the only thing that holds the cylinder in place is a circlip on the back side.  the bleed nipple will pull through attached to the cylinder.   If the fitting on the brake line to the cylinder is rounded, You may want to replace that line anyway, regardless if ...

    crank, I haven't had the joy just yet to have my 77B on the road yet.  but, I have seen alot of others saying that the carb. can get too hot after the engine is running cause simmilar problems.  Do you have the heat shield behind your carb?  this could be a possible solution.  Check out the other threads, I know I have ...

  • Engine knocks / rattles

    Help!! Got my 77 MGB last year. It ran great till last month it all of a sudden started a loud knocking. Sounds like its coming from the engine block. I'm pretty handy with a wrench and I've worked on engines before (just not MGB engines) so I'm sure I could do most of the work myself. Just wanted to know if anyone has any idea if ...

    update, saturday, I readjusted that carb. and my B ran great.  Idled at 850-950.  Started it up again on monday and it wanted to rev up to 4000rpm+.  found that the accelerator cable was stuck and once I fixed that, I had to readjust the carb yet again.  It seems the be working great now.  A little trouble on the start ...

    update, last night i took out the carb.. adjusted the floats, took apart the autochoke and readjusted it.  changed the needle and reinstalled the air piston cleaned everything up in the process and reinstalled the carb.  I also took out the spark plugs...again, and cleaned them up (they weren't too bad this time.)  I should ...

    update, I ended up having to take the autochoke off the carb. and boil the copper spring to set it properly.  after that, I was able to adjust the carb. fine, Got it to Idle between 850-950.  only problem was that the seal on the auto choke tore and I had coolant leaking.  so, I had to replace that and now it has been a couple days ...

    srtoad, I do not have fuel going to my emmissions canister.  I have had that problem in the past where the floats were stuck and sending the fual straight over.  thanks for the help. enfoprefect, I am looking at 3 different books now, the haynes, the bentley, and the MOSS catalog, on adjusting this carb. and autochoke.I believe that I ...
