I am a new owner of my first MGB 1969. I have it for about 3 years. It has a supposibly newly rebuilt motor which runs strong. I have read all posts, but cannot find the answer I need.

I had my 69 MGB tuned up, new plugs, wires, oil and filter, condenser, points, rotor and distributor cap. I picked it up from the shop and it ran great. Well when I drive in 4th gear and the engine starts to get lugged down, say driving up a hill the engine starts to back fire. To stop this all I have to do is pull out the choke but it seems there has to be something I probably need to adjust. So I was wondering if someone might beable to help me out. Thanks.
