  • Horn only works w/lights on

My 71 mgb has developed a problem after a wire from the interior map light popped off. I replaced the entire unit. Anyway, after hooking up all the wires the way they were, checking fuses, connections, etc I find now that the horn will only work when the headlight switch is in the on position as well as the map light. Turn off the headlights and ...

  • Tacho

Hi. Have just bought a 1970 B. The tacho jumps from 0 to full scale when the ignition is turned on but the starter not yet engaged. It randomly jumps from side to side. After starting it jumps randomly around where it should be reading. Sometimes it flicks around 3 or 4 thousand RPM! Any ideas?

I have a quick update.  I managed to start the car just a moment ago.  The problem is that I haven't changed anything!!  Now that I think about it, it is actually scary in a way.  Actually here is exactly what happened: I went to my car today and tried starting it counting on a miracle, but instead I heard one tick and ...

  • Directional Signal failure

I am looking for someone to help me track down an electrical problem on my 1978 MGB.  Following a state inspection of the car in which everything worked, the directional signals and emergency flasher stopped working completely (including the dashboard directional indicator lights).  Everything else electrical on the car works ...

  • 77 MGB Thermostatic Cooling Fans

Okay, I'm not that bright.  I just recently bought a 1977 MGB and all of the emission control parts have been removed, the carbs replaced with a Weber unit, and a lot of wiring in the engine compartment were cut.  Among them are the wires for the cooling fans in front of the radiator. Did I mention that he painted everything in ...

  • Lucas and the real world

I have a 1977 MGB that I've been working on for a while. I have an oil pressure gauge that works. Most everything else electric doesn't. Water temp, fuel, speedometer, cigarette lighter, radio, clock, signals and backup lights don't work. I really suck at electrical stuff. How should I proceed to get things to work? All suggestions ...
