Origins - The Stories Behind The Art

"To me, Origins is more than a showcase of beautiful illustration. It takes me back in time and rekindles wonderful memories of the cars that were influential in my life - some owned, some lost, some raced. David's stories remind me of family, especially my father, of lessons learned, of thrilling moments, of both the highs and lows in my life. Mostly, David's illustrations and stories make me smile and that's such a gift." - Doug Buchanan, Garage Graphics.

"Even as someone who already knew David and his work pretty well, I gained a ton of insight into how his unique artform evolved - and how he evolved as an artist." - Janet Barnes, Publishing Director at Bentley Publishing.

"Origins is a rare snapshot into what's going on in the mind of the artist. It's a quite remarkable book." - Darren Frank.

From art lessons at age seven to having art in the Smithsonian's National and Air and Space Museum, David Townsend's journey as an artist has been anything but a straight path. Known for his unique cutaway art style, David's artwork can be found among collectors and car enthusiasts of every stripe as well as in the Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum, in Karl Ludvigsens' Porsche - Excellence Was Expected (Bentley Publishing), Porsche Panorama, and in numerous other national and regional automotive. Origins takes the reader on a journey through the experiences that have shaped his automotive passion and the evolution of technique.
