Rear Crankshaft Seal Conversion Kit, 4.2

One of the few weak points of the Jaguar "XK" six-cylinder engine is the rear crankshaft seal. Early engines don't even have one, and later 3.8s and all 4.2s make do with an antiquated rope seal. These seal conversion kits use a modern rear seal for leak-free sealing! While such conversions are not new, these kits combine excellent quality and a reasonable price. Please note that the crankshaft must be turned down to fit the seal, so this modification is best made during an engine rebuild. Instructions included. Made in the UK.
This kit (21-1554) fits all 4.2. It also fits later MK IIs with an alloy sump (3.4 from engine KJ.2791; 3.8 from engine LC.8068 and engine 7J.50001-on) and all 3.4S/3.8S and 3.8 MK X. Many engines have been switched, so use this determining factor to select the right kit: on early engines, the rear sump seal (either C2302 or C36499) is incorporated into a groove in the rear cover/seal housing. On later engines, the rear cover/seal housing is smooth and there is a groove in the oil sump to accommodate the C36499 seal.
This kit fits later MK IIs (see note above), 3.4S/3.8S, 3.8 MK X, 420, MK X 4.2, 420G, 4.2 E-Type, XJ6 Series I, II & III.

- Moss Motors, Ltd. will, at its discretion, repair or replace any part that fails in service within the warranty period. This warranty does not cover labor, failure of related components, normal wear of brake or clutch components or failure resulting from alteration, misuse, accidental damage, faulty installation, or faulty repair.
- Warranty requests should be submitted to our sales department and must be supported by the original Moss Motors purchase invoice and documentation of the failure.
