Vacuum Reservoir Tank
There were two vacuum reservoir tanks used on six-cylinder E-Types, but three configurations. Tank C17488 listed here has a threaded nipple onto which the check valve attaches and was used on all 3.8-liter cars and 4.2 OTS to 1E.1019/1E.10323 (RHD/LHD) and FHC to 1E.20081/1E.30286 (RHD/LHD). On 3.8s, the check valve threaded directly onto this nipple; 4.2s up to the chassis numbers above used the same tank but with an adaptor to convert the threaded nipple to a hose barb. (There was also an adaptor on the check valve, C25168, that threaded into the valve and provided a barbed end for the other end of the hose.)
The later 4.2 tank, C24099 (used on all 2+2s), had a hose barb nipple rather than threads, so adaptor C25167 was eliminated, and the hose attached directly to the tank.
C17488 can be used for all applications and the hose simply clamped to the threaded nipple for later cars.
